Ok, this might seem a bit weird, but this tool converts color to greyscale.

The neat part is that, unlike other methods in Fusion, this tool actually looks at the contents of your image to determine an optimal global fitting for the dimension reduction. You really have to compare it to something like ColorToMono or ColorSpace to get an appreciation of what it does.

This... is trippy... but is that the intended result? It seems like having 4 input channels produces different results than just RGB.

The video on your blog looks cool although I can't wrap my head around the algorithms yet :-)

Yes, you can convert 4 channels to 3. There are options for how many channels to start or end with. You can also keep the number of channels the same and just transform them to a better fit.
