on IBC SGO anounced a new node based compositor: Mamba FX

this seems to be the VFX toolset of there SGO Mistika turnkey compositing/finishing station. Mamba handles keying, tracking, grading, layering and more. they promise to make a large use of CUDA technology.

and now the price: they start at 239€!!! (you can buy a lot of "plugins" to extend its features, from 19€ for 2k support up to 9900€ for the stereo3d package)

Emmmm? Preordering is my only option to even see this?

Paying extra for rendering at 2K or 4K...? 9900 extra for stereo 3D??

Sure I'm interested, but this looks like a very limited product to me, and overly complex and priced to look cheap while it's not.

I mean, I would already wish for Fusion, Dimension and Generation to be one product instead of three.

Anyway, did you see this running at IBC?

i agree... i wanted to see MORE, but i can't find anything, NOWHERE....
but the pricing IS considerable... yeah... it seems kind-of-silly, with extra ca$h for ARRI, RED, Phantom support (49€ each = 150 ), 2k rendering (19€), 4K (90€), ... for TV commercial HD is enough...
And has Optical FLow MB (but not TimeOperation i guess), OFX support...
but You end-up with 400€! for commercial ready NODE based compositing app... better than jashaka and perhaps on par with AE ( depending on what is ACTUALLY in the MambaFX app :) ), in theory

Apparently this is it: http://news.creative...et/story/872767

And if Mistika screenshots are anything to go by you can see some of their 3D toolset (9900 extra) here: http://s3dpostproduc...uk/screenshots/

Good luck with that. Always good to have someone fresh in the market though, as long as they bring some new ideas ;)

It reminds me, there was a new comer a few years ago I thought might be interesting. Lightstream's Solar http://lightstream24.com/solar/
The site hasn't really been updated since 2011 it seems, so it makes me wonder if they're still in business. It was all CUDA based too.

Never heard of that one before. Some interesting concepts there. Like the ability to input multiple pipes into single tools, although that can be dangerous too, especially with that defocus for example... :)

Solar, was extremely unstable, just loading EXRs would crash the app to no end.
