Interesting!
But I wonder what makes them keep the ugly Node Graph visualization through a decade?
Or are the users happy with overlapping text labels and input arrows on the nodes? Lack of antialiasing?

i dont care about missing AA in the node graph. sometimes the overlapping text is annoying, but most of the time i work visually and dont look at the nodes text.

more important is that i have the tools i need for my daily work and make my work easy

The set of tools is probably a personal preference. In my opinion, even after more than 10 years of being "the fastest evolving software", Nuke misses many essential ones.
Concerning the speed, I'm not sure that even after such massive optimizations as in v9.0, Nuke will outrun Fusion. Has anyone tried to recreate 3D-Geometry via displacement based on World Position Pass in Nuke, like it's show in this demo? http://youtu.be/I8TY...fSCvBPvP43xnOmg
It's impossible. And volumetric effects in Nuke are ridiculously slow.

Nuke HAS anti-aliasing in the DAG...

Might be a system font settings for if the font is too small.

When did Nuke get volumetrics?

Is it Nuke for Windows or another OS?
Well, doesn't really change visual aesthetic much. Maybe for you, as a developer, such claim seems futile, but I care about how the things, which are displayed on my monitor, look.
You know, these compositors with their "attention to details", "good eye for color" :D

When did Nuke get volumetrics?

Since it was able to create multiple planes in 3D space ;)

had a quick look at the livestream from siggraph yesterday and the only nice thing in version9 of nuke is the improved planar tracker, which is now a real planar tracker. other things like oflow/kronos on GPU and better multithreading for read nodes and the scanline renderer are nice.

in general it is now more like the updates from autodesk, every year a new major version number with minor changes/updates

OTOY, the developers of Octane, also announced that they are working on a plugin for Nuke

What do you mean by that? What's changed to make them more comparable?
