This UVPositioner macro effectively replaces the standard Texture tool.
And the main reason for the replacement is it supports the Alpha channel.
Other new features are:
  • No need in putting your UV channels rendered to RG to actual UV using extra ChannelBoolean
  • An interactive "Offset" view control
  • Possibility to scale the texture proportionally in both directions
  • Possibility to choose whether the texture should be repeated or applied only once
  • Supports pixels of the texture image beyond the frame
Tip: If you want to rotate 90 deg, just check the Swap UV and Flip Vertically.

Awesome as always Gringo!
now, maybe in near future You could do something like Relight? A shader tool replacement :)

great work, cheers

You're welcome!
I hope it will be as useful for people as for myself.
I personally missed alpha support and possibility not to tile the image almost every time I used the Texture tool.
There has already been a similar tool by Sven Neve for texturing, but it was a plug-in with all plug-ins' pros and cons.
Besides, it was fun for me to build another tool while I was working on Refraction which didn't take any considerable time, for it's based on the same technology.

I've added another feature.
Using "Correct Folds" you can get rid of compressed texture in overlapping areas.

I actually haven't had a chance to test it in production for the render artist I work with prepares various diffuses and shadows every time I need perfectly :)

But I believe a macro-based solution can be made. It's going to take some time, though...

Copy the .setting file under the Fusion:\Macros folder. It will then appear in the Tools->Macro menu.

You can also just drag-n-drop the file into your flow.

See some additional info about macros in Fusion here: http://render.ru/for...d=553673#553673

The macro is substantially reworked.
In this, new version:
  • A possibility to choose where to take the UV information from: Red, Green, Blue, U Texture, V Texture or Z
  • Vast internal optimizations

In this version the Clean Edges parameter was replaced with two new ones:

Pre-Divide UV by Alpha - cleans artifacts at the edge of the objects. Edges of anti-aliased UV maps smoothly fade to black and because of that the edges get different (decreased) coordinates, so the texture gets distorted on them. This parameter solves the issue by restoring the coordinates at the edges.

Post-Multiply RGB by Alpha - once you apply the previous parameter to get rid of the texture distortion at the edges, they become sharp. To restore smoothness, switch Post-Multiply RGB by Alpha on. Now the edges smoothly fade to black again but without the texture distortion. This parameter should be turned off if you combine the resulting texture with other pre-divided layers for the same object. In this case you post-multiply the complete result of the layer combination in the end.

Another new parameter:
Folds Width - defines, how wide are the internal edges introduced by overlapping of different parts of the surface. It should be increased for smoother maps with wider filtering.
